Chris Knechtel, P.Eng.
Engineering Manager, Counties Public SectorMy Role and Responsibilities
My name is Chris, and I am the Engineering Manager for the Public Sector Group in our Orangeville Office, serving Municipal clients with a variety of civil engineering projects such as bridge and culvert reconstruction, road rehabilitation, watermain and sewers, stormwater management, municipal review, and drainage projects.
I joined Burnside as a co-op student in 2006, then full time upon graduation in 2009. I was able to gain valuable project experience on a variety of assignments from the beginning, including municipal transportation and development reviews.
I have a passion for helping others and building relationships while doing so, and Burnside has been the perfect fit to allow me to do this. My philosophy has been that if you can build a strong relationship with your clients and colleagues by getting to know them inside and outside of work, then this builds a level of trust and friendship that leads to successful project outcomes.
My Interests and Hobbies
I consider myself very fortunate to be able to raise my family in the rural community where my wife and I grew up and be part of a firm that values and prioritizes family, friendship, and work-life balance above all else.
I enjoy actively participating and helping organize company social and charitable events, such as our company softball tournament, company trips to Blue Jays games, Meals on Wheels deliveries, office barbeques, golf days, lunches, and more.
My young family keeps me busy with gymnastics, swimming, tee-ball, camping, and fishing. I am a competitive person who continues to play in recreation sports leagues (basketball, baseball, hockey, and golf), and on evenings and weekends, you may find me in the gym refereeing a local basketball game, trying to avoid missing a call!
