Cory Jones, P.Eng.
President, Neegan Burnside Ltd.My Role and Responsibilities
My name is Cory, and I am President of Neegan Burnside Ltd., an associated firm of Burnside that is primarily focused on delivering quality engineering and environmental projects to Indigenous communities across Canada.
I joined Burnside in 1997 and immediately had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects – with both Neegan Burnside and Burnside – including water and wastewater infrastructure, multi-discipline facility development, feasibility studies, and overall project management.
I work extensively with First Nation communities throughout Ontario, and I have worked on building projects throughout Canada and the United States for not only Indigenous clients, but also Municipalities, Conservation Authorities, and a wide variety of public and private clients.
Particularly impactful projects that have a special meaning for me include the Couchiching First Nation Arena, the Willow Cree Healing Lodge, the Moose Deer Point Community Centre, and the Chippewas of Nawash Elementary School, which replaced the elementary school that I attended.
My Interests and Hobbies
As a member of the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation, I am proud to serve as a role model for Indigenous staff in the workplace. I have a personal goal to promote better knowledge and understanding of working with Indigenous communities, organizations, and people, both in my professional and personal life. I have worked towards this goal via outreach with various universities and on a one-on-one basis with Indigenous youth.
Sports also play an important role for me. I am an avid hockey and baseball fan, and on occasion I don the skates for a game of pickup hockey.
