My name is David, and I am a Senior Project Manager at Burnside, specializing in Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering for over 30 years. My responsibilities include due diligence reviews, traffic impact studies, parking studies, loading studies, transportation demand management plans, site circulation reviews and design, traffic operations, transportation management plans, active transportation, traffic calming, functional design including complete streets, for new and existing developments.
My experience on development uses have included residential, commercial, retail, industrial, institutional, schools and recreational uses throughout Ontario, Canada and internationally. The most successful projects include my expertise at the very beginning of a project from the due diligence and conceptual stage, through planning approvals, design work and construction. My specialties also include municipal peer review, community secondary/block planning, safety studies, transportation master plans, and transportation planning studies. I have presented to the public, planning committees, councils, and I have appeared as an expert witness at government hearings.
In addition, I spent 10 years with the City of Oshawa in their Traffic Engineering Division, giving me a comprehensive understanding of municipal transportation planning and engineering opportunities and challenges.
My Interests and Hobbies
I am a former chair and founding member of the Transportation Planning Committee of the Ontario Traffic Council, of which I have been a member for over 20 years. I am also an avid cyclist and swimmer, and each year I organize a company team for the Heart & Stroke Foundation’s Ride for Heart, something I have been doing for over 30 years. I have also been a member of and volunteer with the United Way for over 30 years.
