Jeff Langlois, P.Eng., MBA
Senior Water and Wastewater SpecialistMy Role and Responsibilities
My name is Jeff, and I am Burnside’s Senior Water and Wastewater Specialist and member of the Water and Wastewater leadership team. In this role, I am responsible for the study, design, and construction of water and wastewater facilities for public and private clients, including water supply, treatment, distribution, and storage, as well as wastewater collection, pumping, treatment, and disposal. This includes steering associated Municipal Class Environmental Assessments for these types of works.
Following my start at Burnside in 1999, my role progressed from Project Engineer to Project Manager, to leader of the Water and Wastewater group, a group that implemented upgrades to water systems across Ontario in response to the sweeping regulatory changes in the years following the Walkerton water tragedy. This work included a secondment to the Ministry of Environment, Conservation, and Parks to review approval applications.
I have also provided overall Burnside leadership as a former Director and former Chair of the Board. I currently undertake technical leadership or project management on many of the firm’s largest municipal water and wastewater projects, including Peel Region’s Alloa Reservoir and Pumping Station, winner of an Ontario Public Works Association Award in 2020.
On the wastewater side, significant projects have included the expansion of the Orangeville Water Pollution Control Plant and a replacement the Grand Valley Wastewater Treatment Plant.
I also provide oversight on water distribution modelling at Burnside, and I assume a lead role in the preparation of water and wastewater master plans.
My Interests and Hobbies
I am member of the Ontario Water Works Association and the Water Environment Association of Ontario and have presented at annual conferences for both of these associations.
Outside the office, I enjoy participating in recreational hockey, biking, travelling, and music.
