Jim Baxter, P.Eng.
Groundwater Resource EngineerMy Role and Responsibilities
My name is Jim, and I am a Professional Engineer with 30 years of experience in groundwater supply exploration and development, construction dewatering and hydrogeological assessments. I provide senior review and complete projects for private sector, municipal and First Nation clients across Canada and internationally. Although many professionals in my field are hydrogeologists, I am a Groundwater Resource Engineer as my focus is on the applied science of designing and operating water wells and related groundwater works.
Following 11 years of engineering experience, I joined Burnside and Neegan Burnside in 1998 and completed numerous golf irrigation and municipal water supply projects that required well construction, diagnostics, and rehabilitation. At the same time, I completed numerous water supply projects for First Nations communities in Ontario, Manitoba, and Alberta.
My Interests and Hobbies
While at Burnside, I was part of a small team that formed a new well contracting company – Well Initiatives Ltd. (WIL). While I am no longer involved with the company’s daily operations, I continue to interact with their staff to provide an engineering perspective on well contracting issues while also benefitting from their contractor perspective on Burnside’s water well projects.
I am an avid skier/rider on water and snow on a variety of devices that allow both slow and fast movement from A to B. I spend much of my time with my wife Sandra (a makerspace teacher in Orangeville) and my three children.
