Jim Georgas, C.E.T.
Transit Group ManagerMy Role and Responsibilities
My name is Jim, and I am Burnside’s Transit Group Manager, where I am responsible for the growth and development of our Transit business as well as providing project oversight to our various project teams as it pertains to transit infrastructure.
A significant motivator for me and my team is being able to improve public infrastructure to assist in bridging communities as well as further enhancing end user experiences through customer-focused designs.
I have been leading Burnside’s Transit initiatives since 2012, where I have been involved on several projects that have brought expanded and improved Transit services across Ontario. Through this experience, I have gained firsthand experience in managing multi-discipline teams to ensure that project deadlines and budgets are met while maintaining open communication with all stakeholders and meeting client needs.
This experience has included utilizing several delivery models, including Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build and Design-Build-Finance. Supporting projects from the initial planning stages through design and construction has given me the opportunity to actively participate and lead building consensus amongst involved stakeholders, including Transit authorities, community representatives, approval agencies, contractors, and developers through to successful project delivery.
My Interests and Hobbies
Outside of work, my passion and time are spent with my family enjoying the community in which we live, including skiing in the winter months and at the beach in the summer months. I am also actively involved with several local sport and community associations, where I recognize the positive benefit that volunteering can have on the broader community.
