Ray Bacquie, P.Eng., MBA
Senior Vice President, TransportationMy Role and Responsibilities
I joined Burnside in 2019 to help guide the company’s transportation planning and engineering services, supporting clients to develop mobility strategies, gain approvals and maintain transportation infrastructure. Since 1985, I have been helping provincial and municipal agencies and developers, contributing to the planning, design, and operation of transportation systems for communities across Ontario and abroad.
I have had the opportunity to lead transportation planning and engineering teams for over 25 years through my current role, previous roles serving as Vice President of other transportation consulting firms and serving as Vice President at 407 Express Toll Road. For 10 years, I was able to learn and experience government operations directly, as a Manager and Project Manager with the City of Toronto, Region of Peel and Ministry of Transportation, in transportation planning and design, traffic engineering, development engineering, capital planning, and asset management.
I continue to serve as Project Manager on key transportation master plans, active transportation strategies, complete-streets design solutions, and transportation policy. I have conducted original research, developed policy, and authored design guidelines, including the original Ontario Traffic Manual Book 15. My work has included facilitation between stakeholders including public meetings, charrettes, and value engineering workshops.
My Interests and Hobbies
Outside of work, I have contributed to professional and local communities, served as President and board member of the Ontario Traffic Council, and volunteered with Youth Without Shelter, an emergency shelter and stay-in-school program for youth-in-need. I have had the opportunity to travel and experience communities in other parts of the world, and my interests also include a wide range of sports.
