Stephen Kajan, P.Eng.
Manager, Golf ServicesMy Role and Responsibilities
My name is Stephen, and I am Burnside’s Golf Services Manager with over 20 years of experience in the industry. I am responsible for overseeing a wide array of golf projects involving capital planning, reserve studies, environmental approvals, irrigation water management, hydrological studies, hydrogeological studies, Permits to Take Water (PTTW), and design.
I joined Burnside in 2006 after several years in golf course construction and turf maintenance. Since that time, I have been actively involved with all aspects of environmental planning and engineering, with a specific focus on the PTTW process.
I have completed numerous hydrogeological projects involving existing groundwater supplies, as well as the exploration and design development of new high-capacity wells, primarily for golf course irrigation. I have also developed well rehabilitation programs for existing wells to restore well yield and improve water quality.
I have extensive experience in the development of groundwater and surface water monitoring programs, as well as preparing scientific studies in support of PTTWs. As an industry professional, I have spoken at various trade shows and conferences and have published articles for industry magazines. In addition, I have completed several hundred projects relating to environmental approvals for the Ontario golf industry.
I have also been influential in developing capital planning and reserve studies for the golf industry, and I have been involved with some of the top ranked golf clubs in Canada and the United States.
My Interests and Hobbies
Outside of work, I am an avid golfer and ice hockey goalie, and I enjoy travelling with my family and being active outdoors.
