Stephen Riley, P.Eng.
Regional Manager, Georgian BayMy Role and Responsibilities
My name is Stephen, and I am the Regional Manager of Burnside’s Georgian Bay business sector, wherein I am responsible for overseeing several municipal infrastructure projects in Simcoe and Grey County and their constituent municipalities. Projects include road reconstruction, watermain, storm and sanitary sewer systems, and several bridge and culvert structures.
My previous role was Manager of Burnside’s Bridge Group, a role in which I served for nearly 20 years and saw the growth of our group from two people to over 14.
I have been actively involved in all aspects of bridge planning and design throughout my 34+ year career, including time on the topographic survey team, developing road cross-sections and profiles by hand, establishing hydraulic capacity and modeling, completing preliminary and detailed structural, geometric and geotechnical designs, overseeing the production of detailed design drawings and specifications, and moving projects through the tendering, construction and contract administration processes. This broad knowledgebase and experience have allowed me to cultivate and maintain longstanding relationships with clients built on understanding their needs and advising what is both practical and economical.
My Interests and Hobbies
Prior to university, I spent seven months driving the entire perimeter of the contiguous United States – almost 35,000 km and I am still best friends with the two high school friends who joined me! Following graduation from university, my wife and I moved to Wasaga Beach, where we raised two boys and many pets!
When I am not working, I enjoy fishing, camping, playing my guitar and watching my beloved Maple Leafs. This is their year!
