Project Story

Credit Meadows Park (Park 505) is a 62 hectare (153 acre) original farm homestead located adjacent to and south of Highway 401 and Creditview Road in Mississauga. Adjacent to the Credit River, this is the last remaining farmstead before entering Toronto.

Burnside was retained by the City of Mississauga to complete the Phase One Development Plan for the expansion of Credit Meadows Park into the former Harris lands. This work includes an overall park plan, design and routing for park trails, completion of a Schedule B Municipal Class Environmental Assessment for two pedestrian bridges, detailed environmental studies, public consultation, parking lot design, grading and stormwater management, detailed design, permitting, and inspection.

The work included extensive consultation with Credit Valley Conservation, the Regional Municipality of Peel, and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. Discussions with the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation pertained to a recent claim to the bed of lakes and rivers within their traditional territory.
